Be More Investigative When Choosing Weight Control Products

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Millions of Americans undergo diet programs, in high hopes of controlling or losing weight. Unfortunately, not all these Americans are successful to keep their targeted weight off. So what is the problem?

It can be because one of the three reasons:

  • One is not sticking properly to the right regimen of the diet program;
  • One has chosen the wrong diet program; or
  • Weight control products used are ineffective.

One of the common mistakes that these people commit when undergoing diet or weight loss programs is thinking they could get the fix overnight, so they always tend to overlook the requirements of properly losing weight. Also, it is not uncommon for people to enroll into a certain diet program but never stick to its regimen afterward.

In other cases, many people easily believe the claims of some weight control products; thus, are also trapped to false hopes of losing weight quickly and easily. They are also rapidly chained into using ineffective products; hence, not gaining effective results at all.

Unfortunately, many people are yet to learn that they need the key to achieving their desired weight, which are the following:

  • Using the right diet program/weight control product;
  • Eating healthy, balanced foods; and
  • Getting active in their daily lifestyle.

Conclusively, the kind of lifestyle you have together with the program or product you take, is a large factor in accomplishing effective results. The bottom line, therefore, is to keep burning calories consistently because no matter how expensive your program or product is, it would be useless if you constantly keep idle or being a couch potato.

Now, if you are going to choose from the many weight loss products available in the marketplace, remember that the number of choices are quite confusing. Nowadays, it isn’t surprising if you encounter hundreds of these products available from your local clinics, dealers or over the counter.

The number of products  shows just how intensified the need of people to undergo some kind of weight loss/control program.Because of the dizzying number of these products, you need to be more vigilant than ever. In doing so, be sure to check with your physician, dietitian, nutritionist or whoever is the right person to consult with before you choose.

Investigate more than what is required. And finally, know every weight control product presented to you and compare each to ensure you end up with the right product that suits your needs.

When it comes to weight control product choices, the following are some of the claimed effective products to help you lose weight:

  • Diet drinks - usually powdered formulas in milk, shakes or juice form
  • Prescription diet medicines - pills containing appetite suppressants. Can also contain ephedra or phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride.
  • Herbal nutritional program - usually, i the form of shakes, pills, etc.
  • Diet pills - to be taken once or twice.
  • Chitosan supplements - contain dietary fiber from shellfish.
  • Chromium supplements - usually available as chromium salts for easy absorption.
  • Green tea extract diet supplements - believed to contain strong antioxidants, in the form of polyphenol.

In addition to the above list, there are also others that are popularly claimed as weight loss products:

Some of the above list of weight control products are found to yield side effects, some of which are safe while others are not. So it is really important that necessary investigation is done before resorting to any of those.

Garcinia Cambogia Extract

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Garcinia Cambogia extract is a natural weight loss supplement that is getting to be known throughout the western world as a natural weight loss supplement. Several studies have shown that it does help people to lose weight and although as always, there are other studies that are less conclusive. It can be an effective weight loss supplement for many people.

Garcinia Cambogia is the name of a small tropical fruit that grows in India and Africa. It is one of the citrus family like oranges and lemons. It is too sour to eat but the rind is used as a spice in Indian cooking. The correct name for the substance that is extracted from the fruit as a weight loss supplement is Hydroxycitric Acid.

Hydroxycitric Acid is not a stimulant (like caffeine) or an appetite suppressant, both of which work directly on the nerve centers of the brain and can have undesirable side effects, including causing food binges any time you stop taking them. Instead, HCA satisfies the body’s need for energy and improves the signaling system that the body uses to tell the brain when it has eaten enough. This response is often delayed in overweight people, causing them to continue to eat more than they need.

Garcinia Cambogia extract (HCA) seems to work best in combination with chromium, which helps to regulate the body’s blood sugar levels. Chromium is a mineral that is often lacking in our diets as we get older and a chromium deficiency can contribute to weight gain and possibly diabetes. However, if you have diabetes already, you should see your doctor before taking any products containing chromium.

As with most supplements, it is best to be cautious and do not take HCA if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Consult a doctor before giving it to children. You may also want to avoid Hydroxycitric Acid if you suffer from migraine or arthritis which can be worsened by citrus fruits.

Hydroxycitric  Acid seems to work best for people who overeat when they are anxious or stressed. It will give the same calming effect that they get from food. Generally you do not need to eat any special foods when you are taking HCA, and there are no ‘forbidden foods’. Choose healthy foods and you should find that you lose weight and fat slowly but steadily without really trying. You can take slightly smaller portions if you wish and choose fruit instead of sugary snacks. You should not need to go hungry. This is a very natural way to lose weight.

Unlike many other weight loss products, HCA has bee extensively tested in research laboratories on both human and animal subjects and no side effects have been found. This natural weight loss supplement is available from many sources online and may be labeled either Hydroxycitric Acid or Garcinia Cambogia extract.
